Ingredients
- 1 (10.75-ounce) package frozen pound cake, thawed
- 2 (3.4-ounce) packages instant vanilla pudding mix
- 4 cups cold milk
- 1 (8-ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 pint fresh blueberries
Instructions
- Prepare the pound cake: Slice the thawed pound cake into 1-inch cubes. Set aside.
- Make the pudding: In a large bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and 4 cups of cold milk for 2 minutes, or until thickened. Let stand for 5 minutes.
- Start layering: In a large glass trifle bowl (or a clear serving bowl), arrange half of the pound cake cubes in an even layer at the bottom.
- Add red layer: Top the cake with half of the sliced strawberries.
- Add white layer: Carefully spoon half of the prepared vanilla pudding over the strawberries, spreading gently to cover.
- Add more white: Spread half of the thawed whipped topping evenly over the pudding layer.
- Add blue layer: Scatter half of the fresh blueberries over the whipped topping.
- Repeat layers: Repeat the cake, strawberry, pudding, whipped topping, and blueberry layers, using the remaining ingredients.
- Chill: Cover the trifle bowl loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the cake to absorb moisture.
- Serve: Garnish with a few extra berries if desired before serving.
